Our Big Day Out on VideoJanuary 7th, 2008We took to the streets of Bristol armed with bunches of flowers. We were having a go at out first ever “Act of Random Kindness”. It was our intention just to give the flowers away, and ask for nothing in return. It is amazing how a difficult it was to give a flowers, perhaps the 7 foot tall Dabba was distracting people! Enjoy

Darwin Awards 2007January 2nd, 2008Once again, it’s time for the Darwin Award Nominees. The Darwins are awarded every year to the persons who died in the most stupid manner, thereby removing themselves from the gene pool. There are always several version of the Darwin awards, so if you know of any more feel free to add it via the comment option at the bottom. This was sent to me in an email so if you know the source let me know and I will add it. This years nominees are: Nominee No. 1: [San Jose Mercury News] An unidentified man, using a shotgun like a club to break a former girlfriends wind shield, accidentally shot himself to death when the gun discharged, blowing a hole in his gut. Nominee No. 2: [Kalamazoo Gazette] James Burns, 34, (a mechanic) of Alamo, MI. was killed in March as he was trying to repair what police describe as a “farm-type truck”. Burns got a friend to drive the truck on a highway while Burns hung underneath so that he could ascertain the source of a troubling noise. Burns clothes caught on something however, and the other man found Burns “wrapped in the drive shaft”. Nominee No. 3: [Hickory Daily Record] Ken Charles Barger, 47, accidentally shot himself to death in December in Newton, NC. Awakening to the sound of a ringing telephone beside his bed, he reached for the phone but grabbed instead a Smith & Wesson 38 Special, which discharged when he drew it to his ear. Nominee No. 4: [UPI, Toronto] Police said a lawyer demonstrating the safety of windows in a down town Toronto skyscraper crashed through a pane with his shoulder and plunged 24 floors to his death. A police spokesman said Garry Hoy, 39, fell into the courtyard of the Toronto Dominion Bank Tower early Friday evening as he was explaining the strength of the buildings windows to visiting law students. Hoy previously has conducted demonstrations of window strength according to police reports. Woodruff County deputy Dovey Snyder reported the accident shortly after midnight Monday. Thurston Poole, 33, of Des Arc, and Billy Ray Wallis, 38, of Little Rock, were returning to Des Arc after a frog catching trip. On an overcast Sunday night, Pooles pick-up truck headlights malfunctioned. The two men concluded that the headlight fuse on the older-model truck had burned out. As a replacement fuse was not available, Wallis noticed that the .22 caliber bullets from his pistol fit perfectly into the fuse box next to the steering-wheel column. Upon inserting the bullet the headlights again began to operate properly, and the two men proceeded on eastbound toward the White River Bridge. After Traveling Approximately 20 miles, and just before crossing the river, the bullet apparently overheated, discharged, and struck Poole in the testicles. The vehicle swerved sharply right, exiting the pavement, and striking a tree Poole suffered only minor cuts and abrasions from the accident but will require extensive surgery to repair the damage to his testicles, which will never operate as intended. Upon being notified of the wreck, Lavinia (Poole’s wife) asked how many frogs the boys had caught and did anyone get them from the truck??? (Though Poole and Wallis did not die as a result of their misadventure as normally required by Darwin Award Official Rules, it can be argued that Poole did, in fact, effectively remove himself from the gene pool.)

But the big question is what are your New Years Resolutions? Are you planning to give any thing up, or to start something, a new hobby perhaps? Do you have something special you are planning to do this year? So far I have decided to: 1. Run an Ultra Marathon or complete a Ironman 2. Raise £2500 for Charity (HOPEHIV) 3. Get my body fat % down to single figures 4. Give more away, (personally and through Wabbadabba!) I guess this is my “serious one” as I would like to give more time, more money and more effort to the things in life that we all too easily forget about. You know when you have that chance to help someone, or to spend time with them, but really you would rather do something else - this year I am going to try and be less selfish with everything I have, and I promise to continue to do “Random Acts of Kindness” Ben.

I can’t write a long one as I’ve got to go an prepare myself for a full traditional lunch as I want to do it all justice, in a funny way I’m looking forward to the left overs as much as the dinner itself! - Have a great day everyone, I hope you all have a great time. I have a funny feeling I maybe seeing a few of you on boxing day searching for “gym membership” and “diet plans” - what ever you do today enjoy it! I wonder, does telling someone about Wabbadabba count as a present? If not my Aunt and Uncle maybe a little disappointed today!!! (ummm, there must be a garage open some where!!) Bye for now Ben.
Our Day out..December 21st, 2007We popped out the other day to give away 40 bunches of Tulips for no reason, other than “We love to give”.
We gave Wabba and Dabba some little signs to help them out…
some people loved the idea
Others were not so keen, and kept their hands well hidden! When people realised the flowers were really free, it was fantastic! Dabba even got a little “Mary Poppins” about the whole thing! We even went to GWR radio station to give them some flowers, hoping they might mention us on the radio!
Just a brief update on our day out. I will sort out the other photos and upload them soon. But you would be amazed how hard it was to give people a free bunch of flowers! But we had a great day, it was a lot of fun just doing a “random act of kindness!” Bye for now Ben

We will be buying these wells from World Vision. This is what World Vision say about this gift “This simple and effective gift could prevent illness and save many lives. World Vision’s project in Jong, Sierra Leone is supplying chlorine to sanitise a village well for an entire year. This will particularly benefit local children, who are most vulnerable to potentially fatal waterborne diseases.” Well done to the winners of the 11th Wabbaddaba day of Christmas, your “Pipers” are on the way.

Hi - you might have noticed the change to the home page. We have put the video of our day out on the streets of Bristol there as a little test -What do you think? - The reason being we are making some more films at the moment and thought it would be fun to show them, so keep an eye out for the latest Wabba and Dabba creations…

Welcome to 2008, it does not feel very much different to last year at the moment, but I’ll give it some more time and see if things change - as I guess I have not seen too much of 2008 yet! One thing I know is that 2008 means more prizes more searching and more winning!
